As a CSP, we speak daily about disaster recovery and over the years we have seen many definitions to what Disaster Recovery means to different people.  Not every business is going to need to recover the same way, but Net3 has universal steps and actions that can be taken to better prepare for a DR event.   In the past, we have given a 4 step guide for your DR plan, but let’s dig deeper into was it really means to be prepared.

Net3 has a 4 Pillar Approach to Recovery Preparedness:

Strategy. Execution. Testing. Support

Strategy  At the start, each customer receives a dedicated team of Net3 Cloud Engineers.  During the on-boarding process, you will work together to form a recovery strategy.  Your strategy is specific to the technologies you’ve chosen, your business needs, and the necessary support to execute your recovery plan.  During your strategy sessions, you will create a DR Playbook alongside your Net3 Cloud Team to rank machines, identify virtual protection groups, order of failover/failback, and the process and procedures necessary for a complete recovery.

Your Runbook Includes:
    • Roles
    • Contact Lists
    • Escalation Process
    • Network Preparedness Requirements
    • Failover & Failback Process and Procedures
    • Order of Completion

Execution  Once you have developed a strategy, the fun begins.  During this time, our cloud engineers will train and assist you during the on-boarding process.  Your engineer team will configure your environment to the exact specifications desired on a per application basis.  Net3 handles most of the backend work in order to make on-boarding a smooth process and it’s beneficial to those with a full plate of projects or smaller IT teams.

Testing  We highly recommend testing your plan.  What does that mean?  Actually running through your recovery plan and spinning your environment up in our cloud just as you would in a DR event.  This is super important and just takes an email to your Net3 Cloud team to schedule a day and time.  Through the testing process, you will follow your DR Runbook to check for any gaps in your recovery plan, ensure compliance and due diligence requirements are being met, and discuss any changes that need to be made.  This exercise is a great way to not only know how fast you can spin up the in the cloud, but also how to fail back on prem and ensure all apps/machines are running at full capacity.

Support  We understand the importance of business continuity and recognize the only way to a successful recovery is to provide a true business partnership with you.  Net3 Offers 24/7/365 support in order to provide the quickest support during testing or a failover event.  Each customer’s dedicated team of Net3 Cloud Engineers are with you from on-boarding, through the length of your contract.  Your requests are escalated quickly and having someone from Net3 that knows your environment and also has a copy of your DR Playbook, is incredibly beneficial.

Our Recovery Preparedness plan is a true differentiator.
