A 4 Step Guide for your Disaster Recovery plan

True Disaster Recovery is taking data from one site to another where it will be safe and separate from the event you encounter. There are many factors that separate a great DR plan from good one such as infrastructure, cloud provider, replication technology, cost, etc.  Though every business prioritizes their plan differently, this checklist is essential to make sure your DR plan is the best it can be for business continuity:

1. Define what applications need to come up first. What would cripple your business through the course of an event, should be top priority.
2. Define the RTO’s and RPO’s of ALL your applications. If you need assistance with this, here is a resource that can help and we are happy to help you through this process as well.
3. Test the functionality of your apps. Just because it’s running, doesn’t mean it can process transactions all the way through or work exactly as it should.  Don’t forget to test the connectivity to your DR site too!
4. Decide how and what you are going communicate with your employees and customers during a real-life event.
